Hanasakeru Seishounen Licensed; Hell-Fansubs Officially Dropping Show

August 3rd, 2009 § 17 comments

Much to my chagrin, I wake up this morning to find a post on our site talking about the progress on the show, but it ultimately raises hopes for some that are soon to be dashed.

Some of you might complain about how this will restrict viewers that are outside of USA/Canada, but the reality is that what we do is illegal, and once the show is licensed here, we will drop it. Others may complain that you still have to wait for episodes 12.5 to 15, and some others may think this post is long overdue. In any event, considering the current deplorable state of the anime industry in Japan, I, for one, will be happy to know that some money will be going back.

We thank the fans for all the support and hope that you have enjoyed it as much as we have, and we hope to see some of you on Crunchyroll!

Update: Episode 13 was recently released (August 30, 2009) on Crunchyroll’s site.

Many thanks for your hard work up to now! :>

Thanks for your work until now. It’s a little disappointing as I’m outside the US/Canada, so the legallity doesn’t change at all, but I don’t blame you and support your decision. I just wish the globalisation of the world would increase or companies would be less eager to seperately license shows per region or country.

Thank you for the support and comments so far. Localization is always an issue, and similar to how one usually is unable to play DVDs purchased from another country because of region lockouts, so it seems to be the case with licensing. We can only hope that with the recent advent of simulcasting in anime, it becomes a stepping stone for more “borderless” distribution.

*clap clap* it’s a shame that you guys won’t be subbing them anymore and even if it’s illegal, you guys were doing it only out of good will to those who can’t really speak japanese. thanks so much for everything! =)

I, for one, am kind of surprised to hear that it got licensed, since I thought HanaSei wasn’t receiving the kind of attention and love that would warrant such a move (at least compared to some of the other more high-profile shows anyways), but in any case, I, like you, am glad that some of the money is going back to where it should be going. And of course, I would like to express my gratitude as well for all of your hard work up until this point. I looked forward to your subtitles every week.

So your permanatly dropping the show? That sucks, this is a very good anime, but thaank you very much for doing what you’ve done so far.

Does anyone know if they are going to be releasing it in english anytime soon? Or a legal way to watch it?

Just asking, anyway, thanks again! :)

  • avatar alefin says:

    Thank you for the comments.

Yes, the show is permanently dropped. All torrents have been removed for the series. In general, most fansubbers will drop a show once it is licensed in North America. The only legal way to watch the show outside of Japan, at the moment, is through Crunchyroll. Even if the show wasn’t licensed in North America, it is technically still illegal for us to distribute fansubs.

Hell-Fansubs tries to “lessen” this by not charging money nor do we try to profit from fansubs by keeping the site ad free. But even so, it is still illegal. We do not have rights to anything.

  • avatar Sukhmani says:

Do you know anyone other than your group subbing the anime?

  • avatar alefin says:

The only other group that we know of that subtitled it in English also dropped, or is dropping, the show. You can check http://anidb.net for more information.

  • avatar Sravani says:

when will episode 13 be out WITH subs? like, what date?

  • avatar alefin says:

We dropped the show. We’re no longer working on it. If you mean, when will the Crunchyroll release be up, probably around October 25th, 2009, give or take a week.

  • avatar moichispa says:

First of all thanks for your hard work. I think that your subs were really good for example the type of language used in Ranginay princes. I know that the people who have bought it its possible to not do such a good goob.

Second. I’m spanish but I always follow english subs so now I have no way to see the series. And probability there is a lot of people like me. And I think that there was no Spanish sub that do not use english translations for it jobs. So I thinks that It will be impossible to see it.

    Thanks for all
